A Learning Experience
I had a lovely opportunity to venture into food photography this weekend for my friend Heather of Heather’s Purple Pantry. Her baked goods look amazing, are mouthwatering and I just love her creative flavour combinations. So looking forward to her official launch!
I digress… back to the photography. It’s always fun to try something a bit different and out of, what is becoming, my usual comfort zone. Unlike the little people I’ve become more accustomed to photographing who tend to be bursting with energy and emotion, my subjects this time came with quite an expectation of me. They gazed at me waiting for me to dress, direct and pose them. Fair to say that I really hadn’t fully considered that fact as I approached this challenge and looking back on the experience I’m a bit disappointed that had not crossed my mind. I see so much potential of what these photos could have been with just a bit of changing around of the composition and a bit more dressing up of the scene. It's safe to say this has been one of those learning moments which I will take on board for another time that I may get to venture into food photography. I am glad though that this shoot has humbled me as I have remembered that I still have so much to learn. However, it also does make me so excited to think of what my future in photography might bring.
